Nordman Fir Christmas Trees

We are now in our fourth year of selling christmas trees to businesses and homes in the Brighton area. The idea started when we wanted to be able to promote our business in the quieter winter months. To sell a tree and give out a business card to customers, in the hope that they might contact us again to use another one of our services.

We sell Nordman Firs which are described as (low needle drop); the trees are very green and waxy in appearance. In our opinion they are a very reliable, long lasting tree with a good shape and proportion. Some have a grey coloured trunk and carry small pine cones. Customers have expressed their delights both with shapes and just how beautiful the trees are.

We have sourced the trees from environmentally sustainable plantations as far as Scotland, this year the trees are grown in Hampshire. The plantation is a member of British Christmas Tree Growers Association. One of our plant suppliers delivers trees to us, so it’s just a case of storing them our end! The trees usually come to us on the last weekend of November, as we have found some customers wanting a tree up and decorated by the 1st of December. Usually they are local businesses, shops, restaurants and pubs.

We deliver to Brighton and Hove, sometimes as far as Shoreham and Worthing. Local Delivery is £9.99. Ordering is very easy, call us or email us with your order.

Brighton Saunders Park Community Garden Project

Brighton Up Your Garden were asked in the Spring of 2010 to manage the new Community Garden being built in Saunders Park Brighton. A volunteers event had been arranged to help build the garden over the weekend of 6th and 7th March 2010 and this proved to be very successful with all age groups including families with young children. During March, we built some raised flower beds with wood sleepers and constructed a matching compost area.

The Community Garden is now fully established and the plant and vegetables are growing like mad! The park is open all year round for the public to enjoy and view the flower beds. The garden has a pond, a bee garden and raised beds with herbs and vegetables. There is seating available and local wildlife benefits from bird and bat boxes. There is an adjoining children’s playground with toilets available.

Special open days are now arranged when the public are invited into the park to enjoy this relaxing green space. These are usually 3 times a year and we hope to keep you informed of the next open day, probably in Spring 2012.

We’ve now made contact with local schools and have arranged several 2/3 hour visits for the children to the look round the Community Garden. It’s great to be able to show them round the site and encourage them to learn more about gardening, nature and wildlife. If you’d like a guided tour and to hear a bit more about the garden’s history and development, please contact us and Rebecca will be delighted to show you round. The cost is £25 per hour and this includes activities, games and of course some gardening! We’ve recently shown some children from St Mary Magdalen Catholic Primary School around the garden.

We are also happy to visit your school and talk about gardening. We have an up-to-date CRB check.

Please contact Rebecca to book your date!
